Lucien Albrecht Crémant D’alsace Brut Rosé

In 1698 Balthazar Albrecht settled in Orschwihr, a small village in Alsace located in an area ideally situated for growing vines. The vineyards have remained in the family since then. In 1971 Lucien Albrecht and other producers in Alsace were successful in creating the Crémant d’Alsace Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC). Lucien Albrecht wines are the result of the company’s desire to protect the environment and a policy of minimal intervention from the vine to the glass. Today the winery is known worldwide for the finesse, unique aromatic structure, and freshness of its still and sparkling wines.

Crémant is a French sparkling wine that is made outside the Champagne wine region. Crémant goes through the same production process as Champagne called “methode traditionelle.” It is a process where the secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle rather than in a large stainless steel vat or tank, like Prosecco does. The secondary fermentation process gives Crémant its character, forming a rich and creamier texture.

There are eight regions in France that are currently producing Crémant. This includes prominent regions such as Burgundy, Alsace, the Loire Valley and Bordeaux. One of the popular Crémant producing wine regions (AOC) is Crémant d’Alsace, known for its rich and complex character and a wide variety of grapes used.

Lucien Albrecht Crémant d’Alsace Brut Rosé is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grown in soils containing clay and limestone. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo soft pressing. The fermentation is temperature controlled for 6-8 weeks. The bottled wine is laid on the racks for a minimum of 12 months before release.
The resulting wine is a beautiful brilliant pink in color, described by the winemaker thus, “The flavors display nice strawberry and wild cherry fruit, with a touch of richness on the mid palate. It is balanced with dry, crisp acidity and complimented with a creamy texture and long finish.”

Enjoy this wonderful Crémant just like you would a good champagne.
