2022 Domaine du Salvard Cheverny

This Loire Valley wine is imported by Kermit Lynch, one of the world’s most respected importers of wine. Domaine du Salvard has been a working domaine since 1898, through five generations of the Delaille family. Today, all 42 hectares (around 104 acres) of vineyards are farmed by the brother team of Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille, with help from their father Gilbert. They have carried on the traditions established by their ancestors, producing a true, classic Cheverny that is both simple and elegant. The Delaille brothers have focused their attention on growing fresh, lively Sauvignon Blanc, deeply rooted in the sand, clay, and limestone plains of northeastern Touraine.

The dry white wines of the Cheverny appellation in the Loire Valley are composed of 60% - 80% Sauvignon Blanc, blended with Arbois, Chardonnay or Pineau Blanc de la Loire. This Salvard Cheverny is a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Chardonnay.

Thierry and Emmanuel Delaille of Domaine du Salvard specialize in crisp, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc, but for this cuvée, they add a splash of Chardonnay, which brings complexity, flesh, and notes of Meyer lemon and orchard fruit. The base of Sauvignon Blanc provides freshness and liveliness as well as its characteristic flavors of passion fruit and lime zest.

This delicious white with aromas of summery, ripe tomato vines, can be enjoyed on its own or paired with all kinds of seasonal spring fare.
