Please join us on Monday, February 13 for a Valentine’s themed wine seminar and tasting. This seminar and tasting will include chocolate truffles from Kakawa Chocolate House. The wines that we will be serving are two Rosé Champagne, two Rosé sparkling wines, and two luxury priced red wines.
The United States is the world’s largest market for Rosé Champagne. The most popular day of the year for Rosé Champagne is Valentine’s Day. Champagne producers market Rosé as a superior product. This results in an additional 15-20% cost. In light of this, in addition to the Champagnes, we’ll be tasting some affordably priced sparkling Rosé; a petillant naturel and a Cremant d’Alsace.
The wines which we’ll be serving are:
Gaston Chiquet, Rose Brut, NV Champagne, France
Rene Geoffroy, “Rose de Saignee”, Rose Brut NV Champagne, France
Domaine de Terres Dorees, Jean Paul Brun, “FRV 100”, France
Lucien Albrecht, Cremant d’Alsace Brut, Alsace, France
La Spinetta, Barbera d’Asti Superiore “Bionzo”, Italy
Pedro Parra y Familia, Cinsault “Newk”, Itata, Chile
The wines will be served in flights of two. Chocolate truffles, two per guest, will be served with the second and third flights. The cost is $45.00 per person; $40.00 per person for Wine Club members. Seating is limited to fourteen guests. Your presenter will be Dan George.
Dan has been working in the wine industry since 2006. He began studying at the Institute of Masters of Wine in 2019. Prior to that he earned a diploma from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. Dan is trained in the Master of Wine approach to tasting. His tastings emphasize quality analysis over region of origin and grape variety.
